We had a great visit with my parents a few weeks ago.
Spencer turned six months old this week...where has the time gone?
His new tricks -
* He has started to crawl. He gets onto all fours and with the right inspiration (usually the dog) he takes a few nudges forward. When not crawling he can roll from back to belly and belly to back and pivots around, so he can get across the floor quickly!
* He sits up on his own for a long period of time.
* He started eating rice cereal (although as you can see from the pictures he's not so into it, but we're getting there!).
* He laughs at us (and Barkley) all the time, which Jon and I rank as one of the greatest moments of our day.
* Spencer and the dog have become great buddies. The dog puts his paws on Spencer's hands when Spencer tries to crawl. Too cute.
* I love watching Spencer at his daycare with all his little buddies. I think he even has a little girlfriend but he will not confirm this with us.
So why haven't I posted pictures in awhile? We decided that with all our free time we would completely remodel our kitchen, including knocking down a wall and relocating all the appliances. We have talked about doing this since we moved into our house in October, 2003 and we are so excited for the finished kitchen. The combination of both of us working, hanging with the baby, and finding a way to operate without a kitchen and then clean up the daily mess from the day's work on the kitchen, has left us with what seems like about three free minutes before we conk out at night!
The project has gone exceedingly well up to now (thanks to Jon's great planning) but anyone who has remodeled a kitchen knows that the inconvenience of moving our kitchen operations to the bathroom and having a new layer of dust all over the house each night gets old real quickly. All has gone according to schedule except that our cabinet delivery is now delayed a couple of weeks which means we will continue without a kitchen for a few weeks longer than expected. We are so excited for the new kitchen that it's only a minor glitch in our lives and will well be worth the temporary annoyance.
In other news, the weather here has finally started turning spring-like (usually). Last weekend we had a day of 75-degree weather, although a few snowy days followed. I started leaving work a little early on Fridays to spend time alone with Spencer. Last Friday we went to the zoo and yesterday we went for a walk just the two of us in the park. Today is supposed to be warm again and I am about to finish this entry and go for a jog in the park. While I enjoyed my pregnancy (generally) it's nice to get back into running regularly again. Along with a few others from my firm, I am signed up for my first post-baby organized run (the Colfax Marathon -which starts right by our house- which we are running as a relay) and I am so excited to train for a run again.
I will soon post a few pictures of our kitchen remodel. Stay tuned, and enjoy your weekend!

Love that little guy. He is getting cuter and cuter-can't believe he is 6 months old already! We really enjoy the pictures and your writing. Keep them coming---squeeze it into all that extra time you have. Hopefully Papa is looking for a golf shirt for spencer in Myrtle Beach!
Love,
Granny (and papa) in NY
