Spencer made his first visit to Pierre, South Dakota for a family get together. We had a great time with the whole family and as you can see from the pictures spent lots of time on the Missour River and the golf course. Everyone loved hanging with Spencer, including grandma Vonnie, grandpa Don, Jon's brothers Chris, Charlie and Chad and Kari and Charlie's girlfriend Amanda, and especially Spency's cousins Emily and Gavin. Next year baby William will join in the cousin fun! Spencer did pretty well on the eight hour car ride to and from Pierre - on the drive home he slept seven of the eight hours so Jon and I listened to Tim Russert's book "Big Russ and Me"...which I highly recommend.
In other news, we are so excited for a long 4th of July weekend. After Pierre we were all a little sick and had a busy week at work (and daycare!), so this will be a very relaxing weekend for us. This afternoon Jon and I are going to sneak in 9 holes of golf while Spencer is in school to kick off the holiday. Then we're taking Spencer to a little parade in the park by our house with some of his neighbor friends. There is a great art festival we always go to this weekend that we're excited to take Spencer to, and we want to take Spencer swimming...especially since my parents bought Spencer the most adorable swimsuits (thanks again, guys).
We hope everyone has a happy July 4th!
