We were so excited to have a visit from Jon's brother, Chris

I can't believe a couple of months have gone by since I posted. Thanks for hanging in there!

This is by far the most relaxing weekend we have had in awhile (probably since the last time I posted!). We have had a wild ride these past few months. Renovating our house consumed the bulk of our free time. What started as a kitchen renovation turned into tearing down a few walls, replacing all of the hardwood floors on our main floor and repainting all the rooms on our main floor (except the guest bedroom). We have the office to paint tomorrow and Tuesday (when I say we, I mean Dave the painter) and then we are done. All done. What an amazing feeling, and a long time coming. I was so excited to finally have a kitchen that I cooked all weekend...even waking up at 5am Saturday morning to make an egg dish for a brunch I had with a bunch of girls from my leadership denver class (last year I was a member of the Denver Chamber's leadership denver and about four of us were pregnant during the program so it was fun having the kids play together).

In the next week or so I'll post before and after pictures of our kitchen and main floor.

As for the real highlight of our life, Spencer has grown into this amazing personality. He moved into the older infant class and after a few days of getting used to the older girls invading his personal space, he loves his new teachers and new friends. He's on the verge of crawling and giggles all the time. Finally he enjoys solid foods (admittedly with our house a disaster every night from the renovations we weren't so dilligent about feeding him solids...thank goodness for his wonderful teachers at daycare). Spencer's best friend continues to be the dog, although Barkley right now is recovering from the basically three months he spent in doggie day care while we had workers in the house!
We also had the good fortune of seeing a lot of family and friends the past few months (thankfully everyone made due with us not having a kitchen and/or furniture in the house!). Jon's brother, Chris visited mid-March and helped me celebrate my 35th birthday; grandpa Lewie came for his birthday in early April, as did our friends Brian and Alison with their son, Liam. Brian and Alison stayed with us last Memorial Day weekend when both Alison and I were pregnant, so it was fun seeing the babies playing together. We went last weekend to NY and then had a visit from Grandpa Don.

In other news, I am still training for the Colfax marathon, which I will run as part of a relay with the George K. Baum crew. It's fun getting back in shape, although this week during one of my morning runs I fell (rather ungracefully) and banged up my knee. I still ran 7 miles yesterday and I'm starting to get that marathon itch again...we'll see!

Stay tuned for kitchen pictures.
