Happy 1st Birthday (almost)

Spencer will turn one this coming Thursday and to celebrate we had a few friends over - all with kids around Spencer's age. This was a first for us - hosting a party with all these kids (I think we had 11 total) but we had such a great time. As you can see, we received encouragement from our friends to let Spencer go nuts with his piece of cake. He's a true Ellert with his love of chocolate, although he kindly reminded us that babies shouldn't eat too much sugar by throwing it all up this morning (no worries, he feels fine now!). Also, for those of you worried he contracted a nasty skin rash...that bottom picture is him covered in the Italian food we served last night!

I still need to post pictures from our trip back to NY last week with my family. My parents rented a house for us on a lake in Pennsylvania and we had such a great time hanging at the lake and the pool. Jon and I even got to play a few rounds of golf with my dad. I have about 400 pictures from that trip so I need a little more time getting through those pictures!

I'll also post a few pictures of the Democratic National Convention, which Denver hosted last week. Jon and I went to Barack Obama's acceptance speech, which was quite the amazing event.

Little guy on the move

Most of you know that Jon and I love cycling...which we haven't done much of since Spencer's birth. We finally bought a burley, which tows to the back of the bike so we can now ride and take Spencer along. He either sleeps or tries to take off his bike helmet. Here are a few pre-ride pictures.

Two years ago I participated in the Denver Chamber's Leadership Denver program. There were about half a dozen of us pregnant together during the one-year program. Since we had the babies we had a few brunches with the kids, who are finally old enough to start playing together.

Here the kids are about two months after their birth.

My mom came to visit a couple of weeks ago...here are a few pics from her trip.

Here are just a few random shots from the past few weeks.
