Pasta Night

Barkley sits next to Spencer during mealtime...usually a smart move as the two have a little conspiracy going on where Spencer feeds his little buddy when we glance away.

What a fun Saturday we had here in Denver. It started with me running early in the morning with my neighber Becky and her friend...we all decided to train for a 1/2 marathon so today we ran 6-1/2 miles. I played golf this week twice from work and ran a few mornings so I was a little sore, but it was still a great run. Then Jon, Spencer and I drove up to Keystone to see Chris, Joan and their two little girls Whitney and Mackenzie. Jon has known Chris since college and Chris and I were friends in Des Moines. They had never met Spencer so it was fun to catch up and see them. It was over 100 degrees in Denver by the time we drove back from the mountains so we all took a nap when we got home!

Tonight we ordered in pizza and pasta...we got such a good laugh watching Spencer eat that we had to take a few pictures to share with everyone. He is such a great eater - there is nothing he doesn't like - although he definitely loves his pasta (just like mom!). Last night we went out for sushi...we order Spencer a bowl of sticky rice which he also loves and by the end of the night he was covered head to toe in sticky rice. He bangs away with the chopsticks and he likes waving hello to the people around us which made him a little crowd pleaser on the patio of our favorite sushi restaurant.

Tomorrow morning Jon is playing a round of golf and then we're taking Spencer swimming again...there's a wonderful outdoor pool a few miles from our house that we went to last week. He loved the water, laughing the entire time we swam. He even picked up a few new girlfriends...he's such a flirt with the ladies and last week at the pool a group of teenage girls hung by him for quite some time!

Hope everyone is staying cool. Have a great week!

Happy July 4th!

Happy July 4th! We had a great weekend hanging around Denver. Here are a few pictures of Spencer's friend Kaia who lives behind us and is four days younger than Spencer, as well as Duke and Kate, Spencer's friends from across the street. We all went to a little parade in the park by our house where the kids decorated their bikes with red, white and blue gear.

South Dakota 2008

Spencer made his first visit to Pierre, South Dakota for a family get together. We had a great time with the whole family and as you can see from the pictures spent lots of time on the Missour River and the golf course. Everyone loved hanging with Spencer, including grandma Vonnie, grandpa Don, Jon's brothers Chris, Charlie and Chad and Kari and Charlie's girlfriend Amanda, and especially Spency's cousins Emily and Gavin. Next year baby William will join in the cousin fun! Spencer did pretty well on the eight hour car ride to and from Pierre - on the drive home he slept seven of the eight hours so Jon and I listened to Tim Russert's book "Big Russ and Me"...which I highly recommend.
In other news, we are so excited for a long 4th of July weekend. After Pierre we were all a little sick and had a busy week at work (and daycare!), so this will be a very relaxing weekend for us. This afternoon Jon and I are going to sneak in 9 holes of golf while Spencer is in school to kick off the holiday. Then we're taking Spencer to a little parade in the park by our house with some of his neighbor friends. There is a great art festival we always go to this weekend that we're excited to take Spencer to, and we want to take Spencer swimming...especially since my parents bought Spencer the most adorable swimsuits (thanks again, guys).
We hope everyone has a happy July 4th!
